You read the title correct. On Saturday, The Pink Flamingo had the misfortune to listen to Glenn Beck’s weekend edition …Read the Rest
There is a fascinating article in American Thinker by Andrew Thomas about the role of “evil” in politics. As a Christian I happen to believe there is such thing as evil, pure, unadulterated evil. As a thinking person I also know that almost all of what we consider “evil” is not actually “evil” but is mental illness, character disorders, and perception.
I disagree with Thomas’ perception of Democrats as “evil”. Democrats like Republicans have an agenda. Unless that agenda is abjectly intent on actual harm, it should not be defined as “evil” the way Thomas does. Thomas assumes anyone who disagrees with his political thesis is “evil”.
Having piddled around with politics since I was a little kid with my mother, I’ve met people good, evil, and indifferent. Some of the nicest people I’ve ever met in politics are Democrats and liberals. They are good people. We simply disagree on a political agenda. One of the worst acts of personal harm done to me (as an adult) was executed in cold blood. It was calculated. It was manipulated to do the worst possible harm to me – personally. The person who did it is still a very highly a “respected” conservative political operative, scholar, and writer. I am still dealing with the personal heart-ache this person created. The dirty deed was done over a decade ago and may never be repaired.
“…One of the most conservative members in the upper chamber, he has said he would rather have 30 pure conservatives in the Senate than a majority of centrists….”
Would someone please explain Jim DeMint’s agenda? He is determined to put “pure” conservatives in office, completely going against all logic, wisdom, and reason. Then again, he is more interested in playing on the national stage than serving the people of South Carolina. He was elected to represent South Carolina…?
Why are people like Lindsey being portrayed falsely within the “conservative” media? What is going on? It appears that Lindsey is the primary target, time and time again.
It all goes back to the Tea Party “movement” where Jim DeMint is hailed as a “pure” conservative hero, and Lindsey is being denigrated as a traitor. The truth of the matter is there is very little difference in their voting records.
“…Most of the other supposed heretics being targeted by the right offer the same basic defense that Scozzafava pursued on Sunday, claiming that their views actually overlap with the right on most issues.
There is some quantitative evidence to back this up. For instance, Lindsey Graham, whom many on the right view as another Scozzafava, actually boasts a lifetime rating of 90 from the American Conservative Union. But Graham was recently censured by Republicans in his own state for being insufficiently conservative.
The right’s hostility toward Graham, Scozzafava and other perceived sell-outs (like Florida’s Charlie Crist) seems disproportionate when you consider their overall bodies of work. This suggests that emotion plays a strong role in the purity movement – that the willingness of any Republican to show public flexibility on an emotionally-resonant issue (like Graham working for an immigration compromise or Scozzafava supporting abortion and gay rights) is by itself enough for the right to declare that Republican a traitor to the cause….”
Jim DeMint is up to something. There are rumors that he wants to run for POTUS. Then there are other rumors that he is planning an outright assault on Mitch McConnell. It is obvious he has set himself up to be the great conservative king-maker, and could end up destroying the GOP in the process. What ever is going on, the man is truly ambitious, and appears to be more interested in gaining brownie points nationally than constituent service.
One of Glenn Beck’s little followers has decided he is going to take out long time Florida Congressman Bill Young.
Eric Forcade is another 9/12 idiot who is going to turn the country over to the Dems. No one in their right mind would vote for anyone who signs up to run for Congress on Beck’s web site. Look at Doug Hoffman, a loser.
“…Meet Republican Eric Forcade, running to unseat CW Bill Young in Congressional District 10: I became involved in politics via the multiple tea parties that have taken place throughout the area. I am a member of several 9/12 patriotic groups that are founded on the 9 principles and 12 values that have been popularized by Glenn Beck. I am also a member of the Patrick Henry Caucus which strives to strengthen state rights based on the 10th Amendment of the US Constitution as well as the Independence Caucus which seeks to remove all incumbent politicians that do not adhere to their Constitutional Oath..”
….LIFETIME ACU RATINGS OF BECK’S GOP VICTIMS
Rep. Mark Souder (R-IN) – 89.87
Rep. Bill Young (R-FL) – 88.37
Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) – 92.75
Rep. Mary Bono Mack (R-CA) – 71.69
Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX) – 97.17
Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite (R-FL) – 84.85
Rep. Bob Inglis (R-SC) – 84.00
Rep. Lee Terry (R-NE) – 90.00
Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO) – 97.25
According to Paul Kengor, the author of God and Ronald Reagan, Reagan’s Christian faith was “…the beacon by which he steered the nation during his eight years in the White House…that faith was a crucial element in ending the Cold War…”
“We shall reflect the compassion that is so much a part of our makeup. How can we love our country and not love our countrymen? And loving them reach out a hand when they fall, heal them when they are sick and provide opportunity to make them self-sufficient so they will be equal in fact and not just in theory?””
The Far Right has now doomed itself. What a few of us thought was a problem is now turning into a rotten carcass, dead, rank, and full of disease ridden maggots and filth. Not only have they managed to throw Reagan under the bus, but now they are stating that a Christian is not capable of being POTUS.
The Pink Flamingo has a commentary about conservatives meddling in elections where it is none of their durn business at Blogcritics.
If conservatives aren’t careful, their newly found desire to meddle in misc. “local” Congressional and Senate races is going to cause them no end of grief. Not only will it back-fire, but it will end up making them a laughing-stock.
This meddling is about several things. It is part of the ongoing purity war that will do nothing but doom us all to a life-time of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barack Obama. After repeatedly trying to figure out why someone would be so abjectly blind and stupidly want to doom a GOP Majority, there is only one logical conclusion. It is all about power. If we have a GOP majority, then certain far right, irrational conservative freaks like Michelle Malkin, Laura Ingraham, and any number of pathetic bloggers and columnists will be forced to admit they were wrong. Trust me, these people would rather destroy the country than admit they were wrong.
We are also in one of those interesting periods of Republican politics where there is no “heir” apparent. The GOP has some excellent potential candidates. The Pink Flamingo cannot help but think some of this hyper-conservative manipulations is nothing but a run at poll positions for 2012. If so, then it is is war, plain and simple. We could be seeing supporters of one candidate doing underhanded things to destroy the chances of the supporters of another candidate or the candidate themselves.
It is obvious Jim DeMint is dealing with a little quest for power. Some tout his POTUS aspirations, another group thinks he is manipulating elections to propel himself into Mitch McConnell’s job. Then again there are some who theorize that the far right is engaged in a nasty and vicious war against Lindsey Graham because he is one of the few Republicans who could manage to pull in enough independent voters to actually defeat Barack Obama.
(NOTE: The Pink Flamingo did not come up with this theory, it was pointed out to her by a very unexpected source).
Then again, we currently hip-deep in a manufactured “populist” movement designed to promote the careers and ambitions of a couple of disgusting media personalities. The Pink Flamingo believes we are in the middle of a libertarian (read that Losertarian) assault on the GOP in order to weaken it and to make a heck of a lot of mischief. If you dig deep enought into this disgusting and populist tea party movement, the roots are either losertarian or something even nastier.
FIRST: When someone uses the epitaph “RINO” they ARE NOT Republicans. They are Third Party Conservative Losers, but they are NOT Republicans. AJ Strata is right. If these people could decently align themselves with the GOP they could help us win. Unfortunately – there is nothing decent about these people. The worst of it is the fact that Chuck DeVore, who is running against Carly Florino in CA, is going after Lindsey. DeVore is one of those far right idiots you’d better watch. He and his are going to help damn us to Dem rule, forever. Then again, GOD wants DeVore,t from what I gather. Of course we could simply be dealing with more conservative lies. They really don’t give a damn about honor and integrity any more.
Take the way Charleston’s GOP has treated Lindsey:
“…Meanwhile, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) can’t seem to catch a break, as Kate Sheppard notes for Mother Jones. The Republican Party of Charleston County, S.C. unanimously voted to censure Graham for working with Democrats on a climate bill. Charleston Country Chairwoman Lin Bennett argues that Graham has “weakened the Republican brand” and that “his work on climate legislation is the last straw.” In addition, the American Energy Alliance, a shady industry group that benefits from blocking clean energy, has reportedly spent $300,000 on advertisements to rebuke Graham for his support on climate legislation. Steve Benen of the Washington Monthly argues that Graham’s censure is particularly ridiculous because Graham has one of the most conservative voting records. According to VoteView analysis, Graham is currently the 18th most conservative member of Congress. Evidently, that is still not enough for South Carolina Republicans….”
SECOND: We must stand together to fight ACORN and the SEIU.
THIRD: Newt is right about a new contract with America. The problem is the lying duplicity of conservatives who think they are better than we Republicans are. Compared to Newt, Beck is nothing but a seriously disturbed little snot who is doing everything possible to destroy this country in order to make money.
Case in point from Allahpundit:
“...Actually, he says Steele’s working on a statement of “first principles” which might serve as the seed for a new Contract-type platform. Which is super, except that the GOP’s whole problem right now is that conservatives don’t believe them anymore. They have no credibility with the base, which is why (a) Republican party ID is on life support even as “conservative” self-identification is ticking upwards, (b) CPAC’s handing its keynote slot to the main challenger of the NRSC’s favored candidate, and (c) grassroots conservatives are flocking to self-styled “outsiders” like Palin, Doug Hoffman, and Glenn Beck, who’s got plenty of “first principles” ideas of his own to offer them….”
NOTE TO ALLAHPUNDIT: Beck is a Losertarian. Hoffman is a Beck acolyte, and Beck is out to destroy the GOP. Anyone who works with him is duplicitous in his repulsive perfidy.
Of course, if people like Eric Erickson have their way, a race war will erupt between the idiots on the right. This is just way too funny – and disgusting, and shows just how pathetic these yahoos really are.
The far right is making a mess in Florida. Then again, Florida could simply be Florida, and the state is suffering because there is no strong leader like Jeb Bush (which also says something about the national GOP and his big brother).
“…The divide goes beyond former House Speaker Marco Rubio’s challenge to Gov. Charlie Crist in next year’s primary for the U.S. Senate. There are also divisions over party leadership and party message that have resulted in the unusual sight of contested primaries in five statewide contests. Those factions include Crist loyalists, allies of Bush upset with Crist, as well as some who are loudly critical of Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer.
While tensions have simmered since Crist veered onto a moderate, and occasionally populist, path starting from nearly his first day as governor, it was Crist’s decision to forgo a second term and seek the U.S. Senate that has helped move these battles out into the open.
Mirroring a national debate, Florida’s GOP is split over whether to move further to the right, embracing its conservative roots, or to expand its tent to reach more moderates and independents….”
There is a power-play by those in power, who want more power.
“…Conservatives refuse to back off.. “The real power of the Republican Party right now is in a burgeoning, strong … grass-roots movement,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, of the anti-abortion Susan B. Anthony List. “The more out of touch [the GOP leaders] are with their natural base, the more elections we’ll lose.”
There is no actual civil war within actual GOP ranks. The incivility comes from those who are NOT Republicans. If the brain dead right is calling the shots, then Mike Huckabee would not continue to be the “front-runner“.
The Tea Party People are now threatening anyone who doesn’t do exactly what they say to do. They are nothing but the usual cyclical populist movement, empowered this time by cable television and the internet. You will find the average Tea Party Person either voted for Ross Perot, Ron Paul, or embraces their philosophy of abject stupidity.
“….From the perspective of Gingrich and other veteran Republicans, there is deep irony in these untoward developments. Many of the Tea Party types actually hate Republican politicians, unless, like Ronald Reagan or Barry Goldwater, they are already dead. They hate Democrats, too, of course — and lots of other people — but their invective against Republicans is suffused with special outrage.
If they have their way, every Republican who doesn’t adhere to the Beck canon will be driven out at the end of a pitchfork, just like poor Dede Scozzafava.
Fifteen years ago, when Newt rode to power on the resentments of the religious right, the gun lobby and the economic royalists, he celebrated their extremism as the political style of “normal Americans.” Today when he hears the violent rhetoric, the hateful threats and the fanatical intolerance, he knows they are talking about him, too…”
Pink Flamingo friend and confidant, Sally Vee forwarded an email from the Minuteman PAC. They are now going to threaten Republicans:
“…After Minuteman PAC stepped into the race on behalf of Hoffman to expose Scozzafava and Owens’ liberal records, Scozzafava was forced to abandon her campaign and her true colors were exposed to the entire country. . . And Minuteman PAC will continue aiming at key races where brave patriot candidates have enlisted to unseat or defeat anti-American candidates! That’s why we cannot sulk, we cannot rest, we must keep fighting. . .That’s why we’re already re-arming for the next round of primary elections in just a few months. We must begin preparing now…”
Lisa Fabrizio wrote this stupidity on Human Events:
“…While no baseball team worth its salt would be without switch-hitters, in politics, those who swing both ways are most-often a detriment; to those who have strong convictions anyway. And all too often our team is forced into playing split-squad games with the Elephants on one side and the RINOs on the other. Lindsey Graham had some great success as a rookie in the House Manager’s lineup so masterfully skippered by crafty vet Henry Hyde during the Clinton Impeachment tilt back in ’96. But since moving up to the Senate squad he has taken to batting lefty in the last few contests, making him and us look bad. There are also gals like Olympia Snowe whose most recent at-bat resulted in her being whiffed by daffy portsider Harry Reid, as she allowed the Senate Healthcare bill to come out of committee….
Republicans CANNOT win if the party is consigned to a group of purists who want ONLY their opinion heard and only their candidates selected to run for office. You might want to read the WPost piece on Dede Scozzafava.
“...In the summer, Scozzafava and her husband, Ron McDougall, a local labor leader, retreated to their summer house at the end of a dirt road on Sylvia Lake. The place has no TV reception — a good thing, she said, given all the attack ads against her funded by the Club for Growth, the anti-tax group backing Hoffman. Still, she wasn’t entirely isolated. She heard through friends that Palin insinuated she had been “anointed” by a “political machine” because county chairs handpicked her as the nominee. Beck denounced her as “ACORN-supported” and an “Obama-Lite Republican.” Former House majority leader Dick Armey’s group FreedomWorks mobilized against her. She said she heard conservative robo-calls in the district describing her as a “child killer,” a “lesbian lover” and a “homo.” “It was organized,” she said….”
Then start putting things into perspective.
“…Ultimately… The GOP is and must continue to be a movement of many perspectives, but these perspectives should share some similarity with one another. Nominating a candidate who is only with her party on gun rights in a reliably Republican district is not the way to foster continued support from traditional supporters of the party while also currying favor with those more independently minded. Success in 2010 and beyond is possible if past mistakes are not repeated….”
WANT TO WIN, SHUT BECK UP
We cannot win if LIBERTARIAN Glenn Beck is allowed to continue to call the shots for Elliott Schimel is one of the few reasonable voices getting through the conservative septic tank which is now American Thinker.
“…What will happen if conservative talk show hosts like Glenn Beck target moderate Republicans in 2010? The election in NY-23 sends a clear message that moderate Republicans are targets for conservative media. This means candidates in democratic districts don’t have a snowflake’s chance in hell to win. If a candidate leans too conservative, he will lose the district; drift towards the center, and risk being attacked by Beck.
If Republican leaders are serious about taking over the House, they need to make sure Beck doesn’t launch his own jihad on moderate candidates in left-leaning districts. It’s always difficult to unseat incumbent congressmen. Republican candidates can’t afford to spend time ducking shots from their own party….”
There’s an old southern saying, “You can catch more flies with honey.” Lindsey is from South Carolina, BTW. He’s from the upstate, where people have their own way of doing things. Another old saying is “pick your battles”, meaning you wait. You compromise a little and wait until you are ready for the big fight. The Pink Flamingo has been telling you this is what Lindsey is doing. He went along with Sotomayor. Why not? She was going to make it anyway. Lull the enemy into a false sense of security, then take ’em out with both barrels.
So, please pardon The Pink Flamingo if I gloat a little.
This week Lindsey has unloaded with both barrels. First he voted to filibuster one of Obama’s judicial appointments. Remember the “Gang of 14” that the far right hated? THAT is why Lindsey helped put it together. Conservatives denigrated him when he helped put the Gang of 14 together. Now they are basically ignoring the fact that Lindsey and John McCain went against an Obama appointment.
The Pink Flamingo is an unrepentant Trekkie subscribing to the philosophy of life that Everything I Need to Know in Life I Learned from Star Trek. No, I’m not being serious or taking myself serious, but Monday evening, when I was working on the post about the Libertarian-based attacks on Lindsey and the GOP I was watching the new Star Trek move. (I admit that I bawl most of the way through it, because it is so beautiful).
Libertarians are trying to take-over, and are being assisted by willing dupes on the right who think they are wonderful.
Conservatives have a dirty little secret. It is one that is exploited time again, and never do they learn from their bitter lessons.
You see, the dirty little conservative secret is that conservatives, for the most part, are gullible. They are gullible because, for the most part, they are honest, honorable, God-fearing, church-going, patriotic men and women who would never think of deceiving anyone. Consequently, they are ripe for the plucking. And, trust me, they are being plucked.
NOTE: If The Pink Flamingo were still living in SC and involved in SC GOP politics, I would be advocating immediate and swift retaliatory action against the Charleston County GOP. The reprehensible actions against Lindsey are one reason. Most importantly is their endorsement of the Tea Party Patriot?s who are in the process of calling the shots in Charleston County.
“…A local group of conservatives from the Tea Party Organization, 9.12 and members of the Charleston GOP met and interviewed candidates for local races. They have made the following recommendations for local offices which we support. These candidates have been identified as conservative candidates for these local non-partisan elections. We are asking your support of these individuals through volunteer efforts or cash donations. Please pick one and help them get elected…”
The Tea Party people have submitted a list of acceptable local Tea Party people who are “pure” enough to be endorsed by the county Executive Committee for local offices. In other words, the Charleston County GOP is being run by Glenn Beck’s 912 group of “patriots” and not by actual Republican values. This is reprehensible. The SCGOP should demand the resignation of all local officers involved in this fiasco. The problem is, right now, Republicans are quaking in their boots because Glenn Beck is now the most powerful man in the GOP.
How dare these people censure Lindsey. It is not about “patriotism” but the revenge of Ron Paul Bots and Glenn Beck’s little minions.
“…”When I began entering into the give and take …, a lot of the most radical conservatives who had supported me during the election didn’t like it. “Compromise” was a dirty word to them and they wouldn’t face the fact that we couldn’t get all of what we wanted today. They wanted all or nothing and they wanted it all at once. If you don’t get it all, some said, don’t take anything. “I’d learned while negotiating union contracts that you seldom got everything you asked for. And I agreed with FDR, who said in 1933: ‘I have no expectations of making a hit every time I come to bat. What I seek is the highest possible batting average.’ “If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you were asking for, I say, you take it and fight for the rest later, and that’s what I told these radical conservatives who never got used to it….”
Golly gee, Harry Teague is scared!
He is planning to vote against ObamaCare, allegedly, but for Cap/Trade.
“…Pearce campaign spokesman Paul Ciaramitaro stated, “The economically-catastrophic cap & trade program that Harry Teague eagerly supported in June is now one step closer to reality. It is bad enough that Teague stayed loyal to his Democrat party leaders like Nancy Pelosi and helped pass a bill at the behest of radical environmentalists. But it is completely unacceptable that Teague voted for a new program that will kill jobs in Southern New Mexico and raise taxes and utility rates on struggling families in Las Cruces and throughout his district. Harry Teague voted entirely against the interest of his constituents. Thanks to him and today’s action in the Senate, New Mexicans are now one step closer to higher taxes and fewer jobs.”…”
Yep, he’s scared.
He should be. His behavior is deplorable and a perfect example of why we need an honorable Republican like Steve Pearce on the job instead of TwoStepping Teague.
He was for ObamaCare, now he is against it – or so he says. Problem is, Harry Teague has a problem with integrity. He tells you he is going to vote against one thing, then turns around and votes for it. So, Harry Teague SAYS he is going to vote against ObamaCare. Problem is, you cannot trust Harry Teague to keep his word – on much of anything. Teague sends out a press release telling why he is NOT going to vote for the bill, then I find this little tidbit.
“…Still on the fence: Reps. Tom Perriello, D-Va., John Boccieri, D-Ohio, Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., Betsy Markey, D-Colo., and Harry Teague, D-N.M….”
If a vote is done quietly, Teague votes with Princess Pelosi.
Harry Teague is a marked man. Not only is he considered one of the most vulnerable Democrats on the Hill, but evidently he has a few financial difficulties.
“…In the House, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) placed first, with an average wealth of $251 million – top among all members of Congress. Following Issa are Reps. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) and Jared Polis (D-Colo.). Twenty-three House members recorded average wealth in negative territory, with Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) and Harry Teague (D-N.M.) scraping the bottom.
“…“To those people who are pursuing purity, you’ll become a club not a party,” Graham told POLITICO in the Capitol Wednesday. “Those people who are trying to embrace conservatism in a thoughtful way that fits the region and the state and the district are going to do well. Conservativism is an asset. Blind ideology is not.”…”
First things first. Is it possible some of the “war” between moderate and conservative Republicans be a mirror of the friendly battle between South Carolina Senators Lindsey Graham and Jim DeMint. There appears to be a major difference of opinion between the two men, with DeMint becoming something of a far right activist, and Lindsey taking a stand that is a proven winner, standing on Reagan’s political principles.
The Pink Flamingo is highlighting what is apparently an attack of “hate” leveled against Lindsey Graham because he dared to behave like an adult. I am highlighting the coordinated attack against Lindsey to prove just how abjectly deranged and full of abject hate the far far far far far right has become. The fact is the far far far far far right’s attack on Lindsey is now so obvious, even liberals are picking up on it. It doesn’t matter how much they lie about what he is actually doing. They simply lie. (Take Cap/Trade)
What is arguably one of the greatest comedies ever made is Stanley Kramer’s classic It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World. The 1963 film had one of the most amazing comedic casts ever assembled. It is all about seemingly innocent men and women who get drawn into the most hilarious car chase ever, all for money. In the process lives were ruined, careers destroyed, and almost every one of them ended up in jail.
Is NY-23 a litmus test for 2010? The far right wants us to think it is. Newt thinks something else is going on – a purge. He could be right – but The Pink Flamingo thinks something else is going on.
NY-23 appears to be a litmus test for the towering egos who want to be POTUS, or want to control the GOP.
IT’S A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD
It is like a line about Tombstone in 1882, nothing but a mining town, dirty and small minded.
That’s what we are dealing with – dirty and small minded twits who do not comprehend that we are starting to see the “stars” jockey for position for 2012.
The Pink Flamingo is not unconvinced the whole battle in NY-23 is not a way for Jerri Thompson to settle herself (not her hubby) on the center stage.
Who is going to win the tug – o – war?
Can Sarah Palin use Facebook and call the shots?
Tim Pawlenty is playing ketchup.
Fred Thompson is being led around by his much younger wife – as usual.
Newt Gingrich is being denounced by the extreme far right.
Jim DeMint is behaving as usual.
We’re not hearing much from Mitt Romney.
Mike Huckabee is going to South Carolina.
Rick Santorum is in there fighting.
Steve Forbes is donating $$$$.
Dick Armey is Tea Partying.
Newt is looking extremely presidential! (That’s my mother talking. Of course it could be the Vicodin and a few other pain killers. She fell and broke her left elbow this morning). Of course I agree with her!
I just have the re-occuring fantasy of Newt as POTUS, a GOP House and Senate, appointing Mark Levin to the SCOTUS.
We have a little problem.
With apologies to Thomas Paine, these are times that try a rational individual’s patience!
Conservatives are out of their minds.
He is no longer pure.
My grandfather Froehlich was a cattleman all of his life. He had the largest independent dairy in south Florida, milking several hundred cows on a 24 hour basis. Having spent all of his life around cows, he had a tendency to equate and philosophize about life via cows. He also had a rather cynical view of humanity, likening them to cows.
He would have a very dismal view of today’s “conservative base”, considering them nothing but cattle.
What happens when people who are NOT Republican acquire enough power to manipulate themselves into the position where they can call the shots?
Okay, they are smart. They are a heck of a lot smarter than “we are”. If we had half their cunning, duplicitous brains, we would know how to manipulate them and not the other way around.
Republicans who allow it are just downright pathetic. That’s what is going on in the GOP today. A minority group of conservatives have terrorized our more spineless Republican officials into thinking THEY ARE THE BASE, when nothing could be farther from the truth.
Why should people who have no relationship with a political party be the ones who call the shots?
They are abusive bullies who have come up with a formula to terrorize our elected officials. When good men like Lindsey stand up to them, well – you can see the results. They lie, denigrate, abuse, and manipulate.
Golly, they are good conservatives!
The far right now thinks Newt Gingrich is not good enough for them. They’ve also turned on Mike Huckabee, but then they never did like Huck. This whole mess is because the NY GOP is absolutely incompetent.
“…”There will be no climate change bill with my vote unless you have offshore oil drilling,” Graham told Fox News on Thursday. “I won’t vote for any climate change bill that doesn’t allow a dramatic increase in nuclear power. I’m not going to vote for any climate change bill that doesn’t allow us to use our coal deposits.”…”
Friday on his show, Rush Limbaugh did not tell the truth. He was complaining about the fact that no Republicans were standing up to the Obama Administration and trying to be leaders. He lied. Lamar Alexander is standing up to them. So is John McCain. Mitch McConnell is fighting. Charles Grassley, once denounced as “liberal” is sounding like a regular Ronald Reagan as he fights the liberals.
We have some great Republicans trying to fight Obama. Unfortunately the far right talking heads would rather lie about their efforts than to praise them. There’s a good reason. I think the far right wants to prevent the GOP from winning in 2010.
It’s obvious they have a “hate on” for many of our leaders, Lindsey especially.
There’s a good reason for this.
Lindsey is emerging as THE leader of the Republicans in the Senate. If Lindsey continues on his current path, he is going to be the most powerful Republican in Washington, the perfect replacement for George W. Bush – a true patriot and a man of honor.
“I love this party. I’m not going to be let it be hijacked by Ron Paul.”
Funny how the far right doesn’t like Republicans who stand up for the GOP. I guess that says something, doesn’t it. The Palmetto Scoop covered the whole Monday Night Ron Paul, Constitution Party, Libertarian hate-fest. Naturally, the usual hate-Lindsey far right crowd will NOT tell the truth about what happened Monday night, which says a lot about them. Naturally Hot Air has managed to slam Lindsey while explaining about the entire event.
“...The knuckledragger brigade was out in full force Monday night at a health care reform town hall held by U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham at Furman University in Greenville.
During the 75-minute forum, the boisterous crowd grilled Graham for having common sense and not blindly following the rhetoric of right wing reactionaries.
At one point, an older woman stood up and made some prolonged statement about state’s rights and the Constitution while the crowd predictably cheered her on. The woman ranted at length about “unconstitutional, anti-Christ, socialist, federal, deficit-spending programs” and told Graham that “God does not compromise.” Whatever that means.
Graham responded by asking her how she’d voted for president, and –shockingly — she said she voted for Constitution Party wacko Chuck Baldwin. Also shockingly, nearly all of the ideologues in attendance gave a rambunctious round of applause.”…”
Now, the scuttlebutt about the incident, which was filmed, according to The Palmetto Scoop, by a Ron Paul Bot named Brian Frank, is the same jerk who caused trouble for Lindsey at the SC GOP State Convention last May. According to The Palmetto Scoop:
“…Interestingly, on his Facebook page, Frank lists his activities as “Sitting on my butt and collecting unemployment as long as I can!” Gee… what a surprise…”
Listen to the video, it is a thing of beauty. Lindsey tells them off, and pulls out the information that the people making all the problems are NOT Republicans.
“…One man told Graham he had “betrayed” conservatism and made a “pact with the devil” by working with Democrats, and asked when Graham would switch parties. Graham said he’s not going anywhere and instead would grow the party, defending his conservative credentials on such issues as abortion and guns, and calling the view of Libertarians who believe President Bush was a war criminal “nuts.” “We’re not going to be the party of angry white guys,” Graham said to more shouts. A woman who had been carrying a sign that condemned “unconstitutional, anti-Christ, socialist, federal, deficit-spending programs” told Graham “God does not compromise” and that he had violated his oath of office by supporting federal ideas, including health care reform that overstep states’ rights….”
He then called Libertarians “nuts”!
“…Despite being on the defensive much of the time, Graham held his ground on the issues, defending his conservative credentials as well as his support for the climate change bill. When asked about the view held by some Libertarians that President Bush committed war crimes, Graham didn’t mince words, calling the view “nuts.” His response garnered shouts and boos…”I’m not going to leave the Republican Party,” Graham said when one questioned asked him why he hasn’t yet joined the Democrats. “I’m going to grow it. We’re not going to be the party of angry white guys.”
His comments were met with a salvo of boos and shouts of “Ron Paul!”
“I love this party,” he responded. “I’m not going to be let it be hijacked by Ron Paul.”
Graham emphasized his conservative bona fides — particularly his record of opposing abortion rights and support of gun rights — but said GOP needs to build a broader coalition. Otherwise, he warned, those trying to purify the party will turn Congress over “to the most liberal people in the world because somebody disagrees with you.”
“I’m going to find people in Maine, Delaware, Illinois and other places that can win,” he said. “And I’m going to help them, and we’re going to move this party and this country forward. If you don’t like it, you can leave.””
From Day One, The Pink Flamingo has been telling you that the Tea Parties WERE NOT designed to benefit the GOP.
I truly hate being right.
Evidently, flexing their “power” Tea Party conservatives now think they can tell the GOP, RNC, etc. just who THEY want running for office. Dick Armey should know better.
The Pink Flamingo has been telling you the whole Tea Party thing is set up to either take over, destroy, or doom the GOP. If these people continue on their current course, they are going to cost us any hope of retaking the House in 2010.
We are dealing with a bunch of jerks who don’t have the courage to fight it out in a primary. I do NOT think their numbers are as large as they want us to think they are. I also know if we get some of their extreme conservative candidates into the primaries they will not win. Those who do ALMOST ALWAYS lose in a general election.
One can’t help but wonder about a group of alleged patriots who want to return the nation back to the principles of the Founding Fathers. In order to achieve their goals they must impose their arrogant and extreme views on an entire political party. Evidently democracy works for them only when it works for them – their way.
“…Tea party organizers say their resistance to Republican Party-backed primary candidates has much to do with what they perceive as the GOP’s stubborn insistence on embracing candidates who don’t abide by a small government, anti-tax conservative philosophy….“It’s an outgrowth of the frustration people have had with the Republican Party,” said Andrew Moylan, director of governmental affairs for the National Taxpayers Union, another group that has played a large role in organizing the tea party movement. “I think a lot of people have been angry at Republicans for betraying our trust.”
“I think the GOP establishment has ignored their constituents and the feelings of their constituents for years,” added Meckler.
It’s an unusual predicament for the Republican Party, since the conservative-oriented issues that animate Tea Party activists once seemed destined to make the movement a valuable auxiliary to the Republican Party….For some, supporting insurgent campaigns or waging primary bids just isn’t a strong enough signal to send to a Republican Party that has abandoned core conservative policies.
ABQ has its first GOP mayor since 1981!
Photo IDs were required to vote.
ABQ now has its FIRST GOP City Council!
Perhaps it should be called the Revolution Against Obama and the Dems. It could be a harbinger for things to come. No matter how much “pork” Harry Teague tries to serve on the 2nd District, and it could make Tom Udall’s signature on a list (including Bernie Sanders) to force a ‘government option’ a kiss of death. Yet another major scandal isn’t going to help things, either.
The opening salvos in the Revolution Against Obama occurred Tuesday in ABQ. The former Democratic bastion, that never met a Democrat who couldn’t get elected, threw a few bums out of office, and have opted for Republican rule! Republican Richard Berry took 43.82% of the vote in a three-way race against three-term incumbent Martin Chavez and Richard Romero. When one considers the fact that Chavez received only 35.42% of the vote, it is enough to realize the election was no fluke!
The old fashioned, true believer Libertarians I’ve known appear to have absolutely nothing to do with the “conservative” Ron Paul version of Libertarian. Old fashioned Libertarians were left-over hippies, former stoners, and were all about the legalization of marijuana. Some were very pro gun. Then there were the anti-military former Dems who felt the Democratic party was no longer liberal enough.
It was not about culture. It was not about Ron Paul. It was not about “the Constitution”. They were not about denigrating various politician. It was all about NOT being involved, not getting one’s political act together, and tilting at wind-mills. Their cause was romantic. They had a few good ideas, but a true Libertarian is so akin to an anarchist that the very act of attending a political meeting, a national convention, or actively promoting a candidate or agenda is simply not possible.
Any resemblance to the intolerant, bigoted (politically bigoted) bunch of lying, Ron Paul loving, Glenn Beck swilling, Robert Stacy McCain holier than thou sore-heads some of whom are advocating the violent overthrow of various elected officials who don’t agree with their extremism, is purely coincidental. They are now reaching the point where some of them are advocating a second revolution, civil war, and the actual lynching of politicians who do not agree to their emotional black-mail, both Democrats and Republicans.
Republicans are well grounded. We have our problems and a little conservative civil war is brewing, but right now we’re …Read the Rest
Why would a man who prides himself on his discretion, who has been so careful not to denigrate or comment on Barack Obama, be so loose-lipped with the junior staff at the White House?
It doesn’t make sense and is totally out of character.
As a biographer, I’ve learned that one way to fact-check something written about a person is to see if that material is out of character, or rings true.
When I first started researching the life of Wyatt Earp I discovered there were two versions of his life. He was either good or evil with nothing in between. I soon learned that writing nasty and untrue things about Wyatt Earp was a cottage industry, treasured by liberal revisionists.
