The Right Stuff v. The Wrong Stuff

The Right Stuff v. The Wrong Stuff
June 23, 2010

Under NASA’s very close direction, every manned U.S. spacecraft has been built by commercial companies. In fact, 83% of NASA’s budget goes to commercial entities. Depending on commercial companies is not new. That process has included strong NASA control, oversight and safety concerns. It is a procedure developed over many years and with great care. It has worked well. Change should be made with utmost caution and only if it brings some major advantage.

What is new is placing 100% confidence in smaller, less experienced companies if the Shuttles are retired, with no backup, for extremely complex missions. I am glad to see multi-company interest in commercial space development, but at this early stage of their experience they should be phased in only after they demonstrate a high degree of competency and reliability, particularly with regard to safety concerns.” …” John Glenn

“…We know 1,000 times more about the Moon than we did during Apollo. But there is so much we don’t know. There may be valuable minerals or other materials that could be useful for permanent settlements. I do think there’s value in going to the surface. There’s also value in using the Moon as a staging point for other exploration. We can learn in lunar regions many of the things that are unknown or undeveloped needed for planetary travel such as radiation exposure but still be able to get out of real trouble since earth is a short distance away. That’s why the Moon should be considered an important part…” Neil Armstrong

Space Politics has something that is sickening. During the hearings last week, David Rockefeller proved that he was not a supporter of a strong space program.

“...ROCKERFELLER – Turns out that Senator Rockefeller is not a strong supporter of human space flight. We went to space in the 1960’s to do new things and we did them. He states though that he wants to understand the value of human space flight.

Too bad Obama doesn’t believe in our future. Just sit back and enjoy the beauty of the moment.

“...The space shuttle Discovery is seen as it lands at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, Tuesday, April 20, 2010. Discovery and the STS-131 mission crew–Commander Alan G. Poindexter, pilot James P. Dutton Jr. and mission specialists Dorothy Metcalf-Lindenburger, Rick Mastracchio, Stephanie Wilson, Clayton Anderson and Japanese astronaut Naoko Yamazaki–returned from their mission to the International Space Station. …”

The Pink Flamingo thinks Barack Obama is a fool. Only a fool would squander our future. Idiot is revamping the Orion capsule. By revamping the capsule he is basically not only killing our return to the moon but going to Mars. Would someone please tell The Pink Flamingo what planet this freak lives on?

What the he-double-toothpick is wrong with him?

Why the heck doesn’t the freak take the money they are using on that idiotic railroad to nowhere in Florida and put it into space exploration?

From Americas Space:

“…The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy has released a statement outlining the “new”, call it “new” v 2.0, NASA plan. It replaces the one that was announced on February 1st and has seen so few supporters that you could fit them all in a phone booth.

“…In the skies today we saw destruction and tragedy. Yet farther than we can see, there is comfort and hope. In the words of the prophet Isaiah, “Lift your eyes and look to the heavens. Who created all these? He who brings out the starry hosts one by one and calls them each by name. Because of His great power, and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.”

The same Creator who names the stars also knows the names of the seven souls we mourn today. The crew of the shuttle Columbia did not return safely to Earth; yet we can pray that all are safely home….”

The Wrong Stuff – Will Obama Scrap Astronaut Program?

The Wrong Stuff – Will Obama Scrap Astronaut Program?
January 29, 2010

Anyone in their right mind knew when Obama was elected, NASA was in for some rough times. It is worse – our worst nightmare.

“…I can guarantee you that there will be debate as to whether NASA needs to have astronauts,” he said. “I can just see it coming in the United States, you know. I wish it were not going to come up, but it will come up: ‘You don’t have a space shuttle, you’re not flying a vehicle, so why do you need astronauts?’ I get asked those kinds of questions all the time.”…” Chuck Bolden.

We could be looking at the beginning of the end of America’s space efforts and human space flight – America style. Of all the vile and reprehensible things the Obama Administration has proposed, this is the worst. If anything proves the man does not give a damn about our future, this does.
