On Thursday morning, the anchors at FOX News were expressing outrage that CA Congresswoman Linda Sanchez had the nerve to accuse the AZ SB 1070′s authors of links to FAIR. She also accused FAIR of being populated by white supremacists! The problem is the fact that Linda Sanchez is correct, and FOX News is wrong. Want a little background on Arizona’s SB 1070?
Arizona’s SB 1070 was the brainchild of FAIR.

Of the Prince William County measure, Mike Hethmon, general counsel for FAIR’s legal arm, the Immigration Reform Law Institute, crowed to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights that “to the extent that there is some kind of mad scientist behind all this, we’ll be happy to take credit.”
The Pink Flamingo does not watch Rachel Maddow’s show. BUT – on Thursday night, she beat the you know what out of Dan Stein of FAIR. Because I know quite a bit about the subject, I quickly realized that Maddow’s had done her homework.
Stein was vile and nasty in the interview, and just plain lied.
The problem with the new law in Arizona is it presumes anyone who does not speak perfect English, or anyone who had English as a second language is an immigrant and must produce papers. It DOES NOT ALLOW FOR people to have been born here in the US, from families who have been here for hundreds of years, who do not have English as their first language.
While the English first bigots will begin screaming, I live in New Mexico. We are state where many older Hispanics still do not speak English, but their families have been here forever.

The Obama Administration appears to be repeating these same disastrous policies.
The Pink Flamingo went on line on October 4, 2005, after the author realized "normal" Republicans were being marginalized as the extreme far right attempts to become the new normal. There are very few actual Republicans who blog on a regular basis. The Pink Flamingo is one of these blogs.

THE PINK FLAMINGO STORY
It started out as a joke. During the seven years I worked with the girls of my parish, leading a youth group, one of the things that I stressed were manners. Part of having manners, the way I see it, is to know how to set a proper table, host a party, cater it, and clean up afterward. I was fortunate enough to have a group of very talented girls in my youth group. They learned how to plan for, and execute large church functions, very properly. During one such function I noticed there were several incredibly tacky pink flamingos sitting on the table. Knowing the girls were up to something, I said nothing. A few months later they did the same thing at a function I was hosting at my home. I said nothing. They had a birthday party for me. More pink flamingos appeared - and a joke was born.
Thanks to the girls, all of whom are now grown, I have a collection of pink flamingos. It has become an ongoing joke. When I began working on my political blog, I realized the only possibly title was The Pink Flamingo!
