Perception is everything. Because of the far right libertarian extreme populated by Michelle Malkin, Rand Paul, and the anti-immigration freaks, we’ve in danger of completely losing the Hispanic vote for several generations. The GOP was finally making inroads with African American voters. Now, opening his bigoted nasty mouth, Rand Paul destroys what we have been trying to create since Nixon. The more conservatives attempt to defend their little libertarian darling, the worse mess they are creating.
Once upon a time the GOP soundly renounced David Duke. Too bad those days are over.
Unfortunately The Pink Flamingo can no longer support either Sarah Palin or Jim DeMint. I will support them when they renounce Rand Paul and demand he return the money he took from white supremacists. I do not understand how Sarah Palin, who claims to be so very pro-Israel and supports our military can endorse someone like Rand Paul who is, according to Pat Buchanan, one of them. He does not support Israel. He is against the “military industrial complex”, does not believe in fighting the war on terror, and wants to bring our troops home from Afghanistan and Iraq – immediately.
Once upon a time, the GOP was the party of Ronald Reagan. Unfortunately, in the quest for libertarian purity, the ascendancy of Ron Paul, the Club for Growth, and absolutes, Ronald Reagan has been thrown under the bus and completely forgotten.
Reagan is dead, long live Ron Paul and Jim DeMint. It is now about egos and power. Forget doing what is right for the country, it is about a populist movement that is out of control, and a news network that is feeding it.
Perhaps it is all about keeping Barack Obama in power, for that is what is going to happen if the current trends continue.

The Ron Paul ego trip continues. In Iowa, his Bots managed to stage a small coup (the way they have done in SC, OK, UT, etc). Now they are promoting this idiot for POTUS.

Evidently they are finally showing their true colors. They are bullies! If their childish demands are not met, they will destroy. So, their long knives are out for Palin.
If they continue on their current path, they are going to do serious damage to the GOP in November. Someone needs to explain to the far right media that the tea parties are NOT about conservative – they are about promoting LOSERTARIANS.
Over a month ago The Pink Flamingo told you that Ron Paul was planning to disrupt the SRLC and hijack the straw poll. Ironically, he and his supporters did not count on Romney’s supporters being even more crafty. If you want to know the interesting facts behind the poll, check the 2nd choice. Paul is way out of it! The Romney people and Ron Paul Bots made a mess of things, but could not hide the 2nd choice – which goes to Newt!

Crossing fingers and saying prayers for Scott Brown. If he can pull it off, and it is looking better than ever, it will be because of MODERATE INDEPENDENTS. Conservatives are working like crazy for him, but there are some third party Losertarians who are holding strong with their conscience.

No one has a better grasp on the political picture of the country today than Michael Medved, who is the only 100% PURE Republican radio show host. He is pragmatic enough to understand that conservatives cannot win an election. Liberals cannot win an election. The greatest majority of voters are independent – and moderate.

The Pink Flamingo has been right about Sarah Palin all along (thank heavens) and she is not a far right fringe third party idiot. She is a Republican. Praise the Lord!
Who knew that John McCain would be seen as the leader of the GOP in this Tea Party “patriot” era? A new Harris Poll points to the fact that perhaps things aren’t as extreme as the Far Right and the Ron Paul Bots would like one to think it is.
“..Other Republican leaders who are viewed by many people as influential and as leading voices in the party include former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, McCain’s vice presidential running mate and former governor of Alaska Sarah Palin, and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Interestingly, this is not a “inside” conservative thing, but a general poll. There are those who think the “tea party movement” is going to become to the GOP what MoveOn.org is to the DNC. If so, we have a problem. MoveOn has done more to push the DNC farther left than anything we could possibly imagine. If the “tea party movement” decides to do the same thing with the GOP, we will be in serious trouble. Even Ron Paul appears to be throwing the Tea Party “patriots” under the bus.
The Pink Flamingo thinks we are starting to see the beginning of the end of Glenn Beck. When someone has an ego as great as his, and is so poorly grounded in reality, and so terribly disturbed, a position such as his cannot last. He is proving to be his own worst enemy.
Obviously Sarah Palin has a healthy sense of humor. Glenn Beck, though, can’t get beyond his ego.
If you’ve not noticed, Glenn Beck’s ego has managed to get the most of him. His downward slide began the other day when he told our military he thought they should not re-enlist until there was a POTUS he felt was worthy of being Commander-in-Chief. Now this nasty little remark about Sarah Palin. Beck later said it was a joke, but sorry Glenn, I’m not laughing.

The Pink Flamingo has not had a chance to read the book. I gave my copy to my best friend who wanted to give it to a mutual friend who was going to be spending a bit of time doing medical tests and wanted something to read. My replacement copy arrived from Amazon an hour ago.

THE UGLY STUFF
The Pink Flamingo is having a difficult time with the constant trashing of John McCain’s campaign. There is something about it I find distasteful. I must admit I am finding it distasteful to the point where I’ve stopped listening to the FOX interviews. I watched a portion of the O’Reilly interview and liked the fact that Sarah Palin plays like a grown-up and accepts responsibility for actions. That alone is refreshing considering what we have in power right now.
I keep going back to the old adage about airing dirty laundry, burning bridges, and being grace under fire. It bothers me. Politics is a strange business, creates strange bed-fellows, and one should never completely destroy a relationship. You might need that person one day.
What is arguably one of the greatest comedies ever made is Stanley Kramer’s classic It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World. The 1963 film had one of the most amazing comedic casts ever assembled. It is all about seemingly innocent men and women who get drawn into the most hilarious car chase ever, all for money. In the process lives were ruined, careers destroyed, and almost every one of them ended up in jail.
Is NY-23 a litmus test for 2010? The far right wants us to think it is. Newt thinks something else is going on – a purge. He could be right – but The Pink Flamingo thinks something else is going on.
NY-23 appears to be a litmus test for the towering egos who want to be POTUS, or want to control the GOP.
IT’S A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD
It is like a line about Tombstone in 1882, nothing but a mining town, dirty and small minded.
That’s what we are dealing with – dirty and small minded twits who do not comprehend that we are starting to see the “stars” jockey for position for 2012.
The Pink Flamingo is not unconvinced the whole battle in NY-23 is not a way for Jerri Thompson to settle herself (not her hubby) on the center stage.
Who is going to win the tug – o – war?
Can Sarah Palin use Facebook and call the shots? Tim Pawlenty is playing ketchup. Fred Thompson is being led around by his much younger wife – as usual. Newt Gingrich is being denounced by the extreme far right. Jim DeMint is behaving as usual.
We’re not hearing much from Mitt Romney. Mike Huckabee is going to South Carolina. Rick Santorum is in there fighting.
Steve Forbes is donating $$$$.

THE PINK FLAMINGO STORY
It started out as a joke. During the seven years I worked with the girls of my parish, leading a youth group, one of the things that I stressed were manners. Part of having manners, the way I see it, is to know how to set a proper table, host a party, cater it, and clean up afterward. I was fortunate enough to have a group of very talented girls in my youth group. They learned how to plan for, and execute large church functions, very properly. During one such function I noticed there were several incredibly tacky pink flamingos sitting on the table. Knowing the girls were up to something, I said nothing. A few months later they did the same thing at a function I was hosting at my home. I said nothing. They had a birthday party for me. More pink flamingos appeared - and a joke was born.
Thanks to the girls, all of whom are now grown, I have a collection of pink flamingos. It has become an ongoing joke. When I began working on my political blog, I realized the only possibly title was The Pink Flamingo!
