Why would Mitt Romney end up donating something like $42,000 to a candidate for governor in South Carolina. Well, first, Gresham Barrett endorsed Fred Thompson in 2008. This is NOT about putting the BEST person into office, it is about Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin manipulating the primaries to get the person THEY think will deliver SC’s extremely important POTUS primary vote in 2012.
Nah, it isn’t about tea parties, patriotism, or even who’s on first. It is about 2012, and the battle to get the nod from the Governor of SC to promote their Presidential ambitions.
SC could be the most pivotal of all primary states. The endorsement of the state’s governor is a big fat hairy deal. We all know Gresham probably won’t endorse either Palin or Romney. Ergo – they gotta go with Haley, shampoo and all.
What are all these endorsements about other than political brownie points?Read More
Last week The Pink Flamingo told you if Nikki Haley wins the run-off, you will see many Republicans privately backing the Dem nominee for governor, Vince Sheheen.
“…“I think there’s certainly going to be financial support from Republican donors for Sheheen,” said Chip Felkel, a longtime GOP operative based in Greenville. “Many in the [S.C.] House and the [S.C.] Senate leadership simply don’t think they can work with Nikki Haley. They have very strong feelings about Rep. Haley and how she has dealt with them, and I don’t think there’s any enthusiasm whatsoever for her to be sitting in the governor’s office.”…”
Why won’t Nikki Haley take Andre Bauer up on his offer of a lie-detector test? If I were in her position I would do it and grand-stand all the way – if I were innocent.
Evidently SC’s GOP Chair Karen Floyd is MIA. Either that or she is, as The Pink Flamingo has stated numerous times, totally and completely incompetent. Right now some of the nastiest stuff I’ve seen in a long time is going down in SC and she is not stepping in to stop it. We are seeing what is basically a civil war between Nikki Haley and Andre Bauer. One of them is telling the truth and one of them isn’t. Bauer has offered to take a lie detector test. Haley continues to blame him for all of her problems.Read More

The Pink Flamingo is beginning to wonder just how many Republicans are willing to stand up to the Ron Paul Bots and have the courage to PURGE them from grass-roots GOP leadership positions through out the country. My sources tell me in Oklahoma the purge is on. Evidently in South Carolina, only Lindsey had the courage to stand up to these nut-jobs, and now they are taking their revenge. The real crime – with only a few exceptions, The Palmetto Scoop, CNN and The Pink Flamingo NO ONE is reporting what actually happened at the meeting. The far right is so far gone in their hatred of Lindsey that they would rather lie about what happened.
On Monday night the Lexington County GOP voted 13-7 to censure Lindsey. The Ron Paul Bot who engineered the illegal procedure, Talbert Black is NOT a Republican. Black, a Ron Paul Bot nutcase is the idiot who promoted the illegal procedure.
“…Talbert Black, of Lexington, believes Graham has tried to marginalize him and others, noting a comment the senator made in October that the GOP does not want to limit itself as a party of angry white men. “When you have somebody so willing to compromise with those who aren’t conservative, and belittles those who are conservative, we need to do something about that,” said Black, the state coordinator of Campaign for Liberty, a group dedicated to personal liberty and fiscal conservatism that spawned after Paul’s 2008 presidential campaign. As precinct president, Black proposed the resolution while filling in for a committeeman. Graham said Black, a 40-year-old software engineer, had never voted for a Republican presidential nominee; Black said he hasn’t voted for his party’s presidential pick since 1992….”
There is a war brewing in the GOP, caused not by Republicans and not by actual conservatives, but by the slobbering minions who follow Ron Paul and his freaky message of appeasement, conspiracy theories, and outright hate.
The very real problem is the fact that very few of those who are part of the Far Right and are not Ron Paul Bots have the courage to stand up against the fake conservative onslaught of their attack. Add that with the fact that there are very few Republicans who have the actual courage to stand up against them and we have what could be a serious crises.Read More
“…One of the most conservative members in the upper chamber, he has said he would rather have 30 pure conservatives in the Senate than a majority of centrists….”
Would someone please explain Jim DeMint’s agenda? He is determined to put “pure” conservatives in office, completely going against all logic, wisdom, and reason. Then again, he is more interested in playing on the national stage than serving the people of South Carolina. He was elected to represent South Carolina…?
Why are people like Lindsey being portrayed falsely within the “conservative” media? What is going on? It appears that Lindsey is the primary target, time and time again.
It all goes back to the Tea Party “movement” where Jim DeMint is hailed as a “pure” conservative hero, and Lindsey is being denigrated as a traitor. The truth of the matter is there is very little difference in their voting records.
“…Most of the other supposed heretics being targeted by the right offer the same basic defense that Scozzafava pursued on Sunday, claiming that their views actually overlap with the right on most issues.
There is some quantitative evidence to back this up. For instance, Lindsey Graham, whom many on the right view as another Scozzafava, actually boasts a lifetime rating of 90 from the American Conservative Union. But Graham was recently censured by Republicans in his own state for being insufficiently conservative.
The right’s hostility toward Graham, Scozzafava and other perceived sell-outs (like Florida’s Charlie Crist) seems disproportionate when you consider their overall bodies of work. This suggests that emotion plays a strong role in the purity movement – that the willingness of any Republican to show public flexibility on an emotionally-resonant issue (like Graham working for an immigration compromise or Scozzafava supporting abortion and gay rights) is by itself enough for the right to declare that Republican a traitor to the cause….”
Jim DeMint is up to something. There are rumors that he wants to run for POTUS. Then there are other rumors that he is planning an outright assault on Mitch McConnell. It is obvious he has set himself up to be the great conservative king-maker, and could end up destroying the GOP in the process. What ever is going on, the man is truly ambitious, and appears to be more interested in gaining brownie points nationally than constituent service.Read More
NOTE: If The Pink Flamingo were still living in SC and involved in SC GOP politics, I would be advocating immediate and swift retaliatory action against the Charleston County GOP. The reprehensible actions against Lindsey are one reason. Most importantly is their endorsement of the Tea Party Patriot?s who are in the process of calling the shots in Charleston County.
“…A local group of conservatives from the Tea Party Organization, 9.12 and members of the Charleston GOP met and interviewed candidates for local races. They have made the following recommendations for local offices which we support. These candidates have been identified as conservative candidates for these local non-partisan elections. We are asking your support of these individuals through volunteer efforts or cash donations. Please pick one and help them get elected…”
The Tea Party people have submitted a list of acceptable local Tea Party people who are “pure” enough to be endorsed by the county Executive Committee for local offices. In other words, the Charleston County GOP is being run by Glenn Beck’s 912 group of “patriots” and not by actual Republican values. This is reprehensible. The SCGOP should demand the resignation of all local officers involved in this fiasco. The problem is, right now, Republicans are quaking in their boots because Glenn Beck is now the most powerful man in the GOP.
How dare these people censure Lindsey. It is not about “patriotism” but the revenge of Ron Paul Bots and Glenn Beck’s little minions.
“…”When I began entering into the give and take …, a lot of the most radical conservatives who had supported me during the election didn’t like it. “Compromise” was a dirty word to them and they wouldn’t face the fact that we couldn’t get all of what we wanted today. They wanted all or nothing and they wanted it all at once. If you don’t get it all, some said, don’t take anything. “I’d learned while negotiating union contracts that you seldom got everything you asked for. And I agreed with FDR, who said in 1933: ‘I have no expectations of making a hit every time I come to bat. What I seek is the highest possible batting average.’ “If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you were asking for, I say, you take it and fight for the rest later, and that’s what I told these radical conservatives who never got used to it….”
