The other night, The Pink Flamingo was watching one of the great American classics, To Kill a Mockingbird. For those ignorant wretches who have not seen the movie nor read the classic book, you have my pity. Atticus Finch (played by the late, great Gregory Peck) was the ultimate Southern attorney living in a small town. He understood that all men and women are equal, no matter what their color, nor their what was in their pocketbook.

When the haters could not crush Atticus Finch for going against their demands by defending a Black man innocent of the rape charges filed against him by a white trash woman, they tried to kill his children. There’s not much difference between the man who tried to kill the children of Atticus Finch and the tea party “patriots” who try killing the reputations and careers of good and honorable men and women who absolutely refuse to bend to their will.

What the Tea Party Really Believes?

What the Tea Party Really Believes?
July 7, 2010

The Pink Flamingo is terrified of extremes. I see the growing extremism and irrational behavior of the tea parties as just that. It did not start out this way, but it is getting there. The very real problem is the fact that the people involved in the tea parties are failing to weigh the biased information they are receiving from their tin-plated gods like Glenn Beck.

If something is not done to put some of these people in check, and explain the facts of life to them, via American history, we are in for a very terrifying ride, abjectly terrifying. How long will it be before some idiotic tea party twit who is seriously unstable does something like what happened in India over the weekend?

NOTE TO LINDSEY: Don’t you dare give into the irrational and dictatorial spoiled demands of the tea party “patriots” who obviously don’t remember that there is such a thing as freedom of speech in this country. They want to promote the Constitution, but get rid of all those pesky amendments that annoy them.

One thing you gotta love about liberals is their way to out-manouver the right every time. During a long weekend when we need to be going after Obama, they decided to offer up Lindsey for the far right to crucify with their usual far right class. Few conservatives have the courage to admit that Lindsey is right. But then again, the whole idea is to spend the weekend beating up on Lindsey Graham rather than Barack Obama.

NOTE: The Pink Flamingo must have the blasted book ready to send to her publisher first thing this morning. I don’t have time for a full post, so I’ve put a few things together. Tomorrow things will greatly improve. The clip art is on purpose.

If the Tea Party twits do not behave themselves they are going to make a mess of things this November.

“…So, if November comes and Tea Party candidate after Purist candidate goes down to defeat and very vulnerable Democrats (cough…Harry Reid…cough) continue to serve in office, then those of us within the party who are not Tea Partiers or Purists need to put our foot down and take a stand. No more accommodating, no more coddling, no more trying to incorporate people who don’t want to be incorporated. If the Tea Party/Purist wing of the Party doesn’t want to be team players, then they have got to go. …”

I Shall Yell Tripe!

I Shall Yell Tripe!
June 26, 2010

One of The Pink Flamingo’s favorite movie lines is uttered by the late, immortal David Niven. “I shall yell tripe whenever tripe is served!” It comes from the adorable classic Please Don’t Eat the Daisies, based on writer Jean Kerr’s inspirational book by the same title. I say “inspirational” because it is one of those books that helped to inspire The Pink Flamingo to become a writer. In it, the author mentions the reason she became a writer was because writing was the only career where a person could sleep late on a regular basis! Bingo – career path chosen.

One of the things that amazes me the most is the tea party “patriot” and their desire to nominate and vote for men and women who have either no political experience, or no real world experience, or are abject idiots and frauds. Take the State of Florida, please. Have you heard about the tea party tempest there?

Why Haley’s Comet Is Bad for Tea Parties & Conservatives

Why Haley’s Comet Is Bad for Tea Parties & Conservatives
May 28, 2010

How long are the tea party people going to be held unaccountable for their stupidity and their problematic endorsements which are going to hurt the GOP?

The Pink Flamingo does not believe in out of state, primary endorsements. It is ruinous to the GOP.

We also have a problem of the egos. Jim DeMint is out for Jim DeMint. Erick Erickson is his little flunkie. DeMint has “officially” stayed out of the ongoing war in SC, but his flunkie is defending Haley. Mitt Romney, along with blogger Will Folks were early Haley supporters. Palin jumped on the bangwagon a few weeks ago. We all know these endorsements are payback for previous endorsements. It is the way the game is played. BUT – DeMint and Palin are making fools of themselves choosing the most “conservative” candidate, not exactly looking for the more stable and qualified candidate. Haley is NOT qualified to be the Governor of SC nor is Rand Paul fit to serve in the US Senate.

Libertarians, Tea Party “Patriots” and Christian Morality

Libertarians, Tea Party “Patriots” and Christian Morality
May 23, 2010

Charles Johnson of LGF is an athiest. He is a proud athiest. He wrote something quite profound on Saturday, that makes me wonder just how “athiest” he actually is. What is ironic is the fact that it has taken a self-professed athiest, who is dis-heartened with the far right extremes to completely explain the problem with libertarians. They have no humanity.

“…One thing the nomination of Rand Paul has definitely achieved — it’s showing Americans just how far out of mainstream thought libertarians are. Libertarians like Rand Paul and his father Ron are absolutists, and any form of political absolutism is profoundly anti-human. hat’s why Rand Paul can say “accidents happen” about the BP disaster — because he has no empathy at all for the millions of people whose lives will be affected by it. It’s the same reason why he is an anti-abortion fanatic, despite his lip service to libertarianism — because he has no empathy for human beings. His ideology rules his world view, and human beings play a very small part in it….”

Have you read anything about the life of the patron saint of libertarianism, Ayn Rand? She was a vile, repulsive, almost evil woman who had basically no human decency and no scruples. She had no morality. She believed in a ruthless Darwinian theology of dog eat dog, survival of the fittest, and destroy anyone who got in your way. She once wrote:

“…What is the moral code of altruism? The basic principle of altruism is that man has no right to exist for his own sake, that service to others is the only justification of his existence, and that self-sacrifice is his highest moral duty, virtue and value.

Do not confuse altruism with kindness, good will or respect for the rights of others. These are not primaries, but consequences, which, in fact, altruism makes impossible. The irreducible primary of altruism, the basic absolute, is self-sacrifice—which means: self-immolation, self-abnegation, self-denial, self-destruction—which means: the self as a standard of evil, the selfless as a standard of the good.

Do not hide behind such superficialities as whether you should or should not give a dime to a beggar. That is not the issue. The issue is whether you do or do not have the right to exist without giving him that dime. The issue is whether you must keep buying your life, dime by dime, from any beggar who might choose to approach you. The issue is whether the need of others is the first mortgage on your life and the moral purpose of your existence. The issue is whether man is to be regarded as a sacrificial animal. Any man of self-esteem will answer: “No.” Altruism says: “Yes.”…”

The more I think about it, the more certain I am that libertarians have a very hard time practicing the teachings of Christ. A few weeks ago some idiot conservative did this blog mime saying that Christ was conservative. I guess who ever came up with that stupid idea has not actually read the teachings of Christ, which were revolutionarily liberal for the time. Then again, it helps to have a back ground in Roman history to know how revolutionary and how liberal Christ actually was.

Then again, if you are a Tea Party Patriot and rebelling against the tax man, perhaps you are rebelling against the teachings of Christ. Remember that “render unto Caesar…”? The question was about paying taxes, not paying them, and rebelling against the status quo. Christ said we pray for those who lead and opprss us. Then again, Christ took the tax man out to dinner, converted him, and turned him into a Desciple – Matthew.

I kept wondering what bothered me about the Tea Party “patriots” and libertarians. Now I know.

The Pink Flamingo is basically a cynic when it comes to people, human nature, and people doing the “right” thing. Human nature is a very dark, cruel and of-times vicious thing. So is business. Even more so for “big” business. What separates us from the animals and from the worst aspects of our nature is the goodness that comes only from the Grace of God. There is an inherent goodness in our Judeo-Christian belief that has never been duplicated in human history.

“…’I unequivocally state that I will not support any efforts to repeal the Civil Rights Act of 1964…we are sure to hear more wild, dishonest smears during this campaign,’ Paul campaign statement says…”"…“A free society will abide unofficial, private discrimination,” wrote Paul, “even when that means allowing hate-filled groups to exclude people based on the color of their skin. It is unenlightened and ill-informed to promote discrimination against individuals based on the color of their skin. It is likewise unwise to forget the distinction between public (taxpayer-financed) and private entities.“…” Rand Paul

Like David Frum says, Ron Paul is going to hurt the GOP in November. Then again, that’s the whole point isn’t it?

The Ron Paul ego trip continues. In Iowa, his Bots managed to stage a small coup (the way they have done in SC, OK, UT, etc). Now they are promoting this idiot for POTUS.

“...Since the 2008 caucuses, no potential presidential candidate has visited Iowa more than Ron Paul. With a friendlier SCC, a tailor made political environment, and a wealth of knowledge from his previous run, Ron Paul could be a force to be reckoned with in the 2012 Iowa caucuses.

The far right Tea Party “patriots” have turned on Sarah Palin because she has endorsed Carly Fiorina. Fiorina is NOT good enough for the Tea Party people. Evidently they are finally showing their true colors. They are bullies! If their childish demands are not met, they will destroy. So, their long knives are out for Palin.

If they continue on their current path, they are going to do serious damage to the GOP in November. Someone needs to explain to the far right media that the tea parties are NOT about conservative – they are about promoting LOSERTARIANS.
