THIRTEEN REASONS WHY MY LIFE IS A MESS !?!
excuses reasons nah – excuses
P. S. I am working on a survey about the economy. It is long, with 100 questions, and takes about 15 minutes. I’m doing it for an article. If possible, would you take it, and if possible, pass the link on to others. Thank you so very much! THE SURVEY
1. I just can’t get my act together. This has gone on far too long. The formerly well-organized person is living among the ruins of an incomplete “office” renovation.
2. The tree decorating is well behind schedule. Okay, it’s the fault of Miss Beverly Sills, aka Bubbles Silverman. She’s already broken one ornament. Shall we try for a dozen? I’m taking my time decorating it to see if the breakage was just a phase, or do we have a problem?
This morning I discovered that Bubbles decided to start taking down the tree – a good month early. Most of the lights from the bottom row of branches had been removed. One entire section of lights had been unplugged.
Go figure – how the little monster did it. We all know Bubbles did it. No way they can blame Rumsfeld. We all know the cats would sure like to try.
3. I am spending way too much time with water-based feline behavior modification. In other words, I’m blasting Bubbles with a squirt gun every time she goes near the tree. It gets old, very old, very fast.
4. The yet to repaired ceiling near the allegedly repaired formerly leaking skylight is driving me nuts. It looks horrible. We can’t repair the ceiling until there’s a really big rain. In other words, I ‘m living with it until at least the 4th of July when the monsoons begin again!
5. I was having cat problems. Little Joe was beating the you know what out of Bat Masterson on a regular basis. We were literally living in a state of siege with pet gate barricades fixed so Little Joe would stay downstairs and Bat Upstairs.
Monday night Little Joe went after Bubbles. That was the last straw. Tuesday afternoon Robert, the Kitten Whisperer, came and caught him. We’re taking him to the vet tomorrow to be “fixed”. Then, if Robert can “tame” him, we’ll have him de-clawed and he can move back home. If not, he’s going to be living with my mother’s outside cats in San Patricio.
I’ve not slept in days, dealing with the fighting. I am exhausted.
UPDATE: The vet just called. Little Joe will no longer be able to father kittens. He is resting comfortably. Robert is going to take him home with him, and “gentle” him. I think he and Robert are bonding. If so, Robert has a beautiful cat!
6. In the middle of redoing my little office alcove, I realized I was not thinking right when it comes to my Earp files. I have about 500 research files on the various aspects of the life of Wyatt Earp. They were packed away in the bottom of my guest room closet, where I could not get to them to work. I want to start on a new book about him, and work on my theory that Mattie was murdered. I put the files in a half dozen rubbermaid containers, but that wasn’t satisfactory. It dawned on me that I needed to put them on shelves in my little closet alcove. I ordered a complete set of office style alphabetical letters for files. It is working. Currently I have about 20% of the files sorted and labeled. It takes a good 2 hours to work on a box. I need to pace myself and get the mess finished.
7. I then want to move the files I’ve accumulated for another book into the rubbermaid containers. I can’t do that until I complete the labeling of the Earp files. Consequently these files are sitting in a box in the middle of my dining room.
8. Two weeks ago I managed to hit a great sale at Hobby Lobby. I want to make a new Christmas wreath. I have a half dozen bags sitting in another box on top of the other box in the middle of my dining room.
9. Two weeks of unsorted mail is piled in the same box, along with a million catalogs. I like catalogs, but please – U N C L E! I give up. No more, please!
10. I have unwritten Christmas cards scattered in the dining room and in a box on the new desk in my little office. I swear, I’m going to do them this year. I bought all the stamps – last year. Just need a few cents more!
11. Let’s not even discuss the mess in the entry, where I’ve turned it into Santa’s workshop on acid. No, nothing is wrapped. Next week, I promise.
12. I gotta do the edits on the Praise Book.
13. I had a tantrum cooking “dinner” last night and dumped the contents of two (count em) containers of cooking utensils onto the counter. I need to go through them. I can’t even bring the rest of the groceries out of the Durango until I clean up that blasted mess.
UPDATE: All of the above have been done. The utensils are sorted. The counter clean, the groceries put up, and a big pot of chili simmering!
I WANT TO RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!

You’re right — this is a TT I can definitely relate to. When the cards start rolling and you try to display them, which cat will use them as floss?

I too can relate to so much of your list, especially #10 right now. Gotta get them started!

Writing that all down gets you a little closer to having it all cleared away.
Reading it all makes me feel so much better about my petty problems!
Good show.

Your life sounds just about as crazy as mine, although I believe your life is worse. ;)

Man, you’ve been busy! And nope, I haven’t rested at all while I’ve been on T13 hiatus. If anything, I’ve been busier than ever. Amazing!

I totally feel your pain! I’ve been procrastinating way too long. Yesterday I finally started a new personal blog on Homeschool Blogger and I’ve yet to sit down and seriously do any writing for my current blog. I start classes again next month, my house is still disorganized and my children are testing my patience. Nevertheless I began my TT once more!

I have a similar problem with one of our furbabies…but it’s the kitchen counter. She’s learning tho…’cause I flip water from my fingers on her. Now, I don’t even need water, just get my hand positioned like I AM flipping water and she runs!!!! Turd.
My 13 is posted…it’s all Olde English today. Stop by, won’t you?

The files/unsorted mail/catalogues thing sounds a lot like my ‘Puter Room. I didn’t organize it when we moved in & now it’s so scary in there, I’m overwhelmed just looking @ it!! Oh, crap! I have to do holiday cards!! Thanks for reminding me. Good thing it’s a short list.

BTW-I tried filling out your survey, but there was a flaw with the “rating 1-10″ portion, I couldn’t tell which end was which. Also, there were some questions that I didn’t have an answer for & there was no “n/a” option. Sorry. I tried.
