The other week or so I was on Twitter, first stating ‘If we dare say we dislike ‘happy holidays’ instead of ‘Merry Christmas’ – we Christians are treated like sh*t by the politically correct.’ My second tweet was: ‘I have a tendency not to patronize businesses who don’t have the courage & the decency to say “Merry Christmas” instead of “Happy Holidays”‘
There was a response by a person called SammyK. I have since blocked this person. This person describes themselves as “…I like my eyelashes as dark as my soul and as long as the list of people I hate….”
This was SammyK’s reply to me:
SammyK: Why is it “decent” to say something that excludes other people/religions/cultures? Being petty isn’t “loving thy neighbor”.
SJR: Bah humbug!!!!!
SammyK: You reject any other viewpoint and all valid counter-arguments citing “bias” though your own premise is itself biased.
SJR: You proved my point by assuming I am a homophobe, bigot, & don’t like the cups.
SammyK: Right but if you are truly loving/accepting of all like the good books says, it shouldn’t matter if they say Merry Xmas or not.
SammyK: I have n0 bias, I am only pointing out flawed logic. If ur tantrum & lack of intelligent/open-minded reply is indication – PASS.
SJR: It is constant. I like progressive ideas but the sites R now open season on any1 who dares stand up 4 what they believe.
SammyK: In the world we live in today, be thankful they are wishing you well at all instead of shooting you or blowing you up.
SammyK: Also due to higher education, critical thinking, and war w heavy religious overtones, more ppl rejecting religion on all fronts
SJR: That is very biased against people of faith. Most closed minded people I’ve ever encountered R atheist & agnostic.
SammyK: That comment in itself is closed minded and biased.
SJR: How is it biased, it is a simple objective observation. Closed minded people come in ALL creeds and cultures not just atheistic.
SammyK: Also don’t forget, civil unrest causes agitation so people get angry/confrontational a lot more and faster than usual.
SJR: That occurred with people who follow a crowd mentally & surrender their personhood to the mob.
SammyK: But “people of faith” don’t follow a crowd mentality…??? Come on.
SJR: Anyone can be part of a crowd & a mob. Just look at fake unrest on college campuses today. It’s mob rule.
SammyK: For sure, but that doesn’t negate its effect on the public.
SJR: If we dare say we dislike ‘happy holidays’ instead of ‘Merry Christmas’ – we Christians are treated like sh*t by the politically correct.
SammyK: It’s prolly cuz you lot whine about every little thing that isn’t Christian-oriented (Starbucks cups, gay marriage, pagans, etc)
SJR: Oh? You don’t know me. I guess I’m just a vile bigot, right?
SammyK: I never said that at all, but if the shoe fits…
SJR: Go read my blog. U made generalizations about me based on your bias.
SammyK: I believe anyone should be able to exercise their chosen religion, but not at expense of other belief systems (or lack therof)
SJR: I agree. I read the nastiest article today damning all Christians over Merry Christmas. I say something & I’m mean.
SammyK: Well -I- didn’t write the article, I am merely trying to open a dialogue and question this whole silly argument.
SJR: It is constant. I like progressive ideas but the sites R now open season on any1 who dares stand up 4 what they believe.
SammyK: Your faith shouldn’t be predicated on other people so why do you care…?
SJR: The trend interests me – fairly recent – past 7 months or so. Getting worse
SammyK: There is a shift from religious attitudes toward science/fact, which may be part of it. More agnostic/atheist trends vs theology
SJR: I was once a lobbyist working with NASA. I am well educated, a writer. I don’t reject Christ.
SammyK: Well it’s great to see you’re not letting education get in the way of your ignorance. 👌
SJR: Why am I ignorant?
SammyK: You can’t even stay on topic and instead just argue everything presented to you in opposition to your beliefs.
SJR: Fascinating ad hominem approach.
SammyK: Right but it was okay when you did it though….
SJR: An educated person is capable of acknowledging there R diverse opinions & respect the rights of others 2 have those opinions.
SJR: I disagree with you. That does not make me ignorant. It makes me opinionated
SammyK: If you refuse to think about or be willing to acknowledge different perspectives it absolutely makes you uneducated!
SJR: Wow! What about you? In otherwords 2 B educated 1must be willing to spew forth what my betters wish me to spew.
It is rather fascinating, and an insight into the way progressives are acting these days. They are becoming as unhinged as the tea party idiots. My father and grandfather Froehlich both said in politics, the pendiulum swings one way, then the other. It is now speeding toward the left.
