Mitt Romney’s Core Beliefs

We all have core beliefs, or we should have them. Granted, there are many individuals who never will, simply putting their finger into the wind, but most people stand for something. There are a lot of people who stick their finger into the wind and come up with a set of core beliefs.  Most are politicians.  Then again there is Mendacious Mitt.  We don’t know what his core beliefs are because he constantly lies about things.

Never before has the GOP had a nominee who has never mentioned our military forces in his big acceptance speech.

“…The United States has some 68,000 troops fighting in Afghanistan. Over two thousand Americans have died in the more than ten years of that war, a war Mitt Romney has supported. Yet in his speech accepting his party’s nomination to be commander in chief, Mitt Romney said not a word about the war in Afghanistan. Nor did he utter a word of appreciation to the troops fighting there, or to those who have fought there. Nor for that matter were there thanks for those who fought in Iraq, another conflict that went unmentioned.”…

In 1994 when Mitt Romney ran against Ted Kennedy he was for abortion.  He was for gay rights, etc.  Now he isn’t. He was very liberal when it came to environmental stuff.  He ran to the left of Ted Kennedy.  He was not even a Republican until he decided to run.  In fact, his wife said they did not even know any Republicans in their group of friends.

This brings to core beliefs.  I can tell you exactly what I believed in 1994.  I’ve not changed one thing that I believe.  I’ve changed one thing.  When I lived in South Carolina I was as hard-core anti-immigration as anyone could possibly be.  I was just as bigoted against Hispanic immigrants as the worst of ’em.  Then I moved to New Mexico and realized what a total fool I was. For me, it took a terrified illegal immigrant from Guatemala, with five small children, all terribly hungry, risking everything to ask for help.  Once I saw the face of humanity in her, saw reality, I’ve never been the same.  I am proud of the fact that, to a person, there at Holy Mount Episcopal Church, we all went to help this family.

Contrary to popular opinion, other than the above, I’ve not changed, not in basic beliefs.   Sure, people change a little, if not we wither and die.  Thinking about it, the things that have changed have nothing to do with core beliefs.  My Christian faith is much stronger.

I bring all of this up because Mitt Romney is bought and paid for by the Koch Brothers, as is the likes of Paul Ryan, Rand Paul, Jim DeMint, Eric Cantor, Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, etc. etc. ad nauseam.  The very real problem here is that, if a person has no core values, and is bought and paid for by someone like David Koch, expect that person to adopt the values of the person who has paid for their services.

The Koch Brothers are spending nearly $400 million on this election cycle.  When David Koch was asked if that wasn’t too much, he it’s a free society.  Well… it was, until he and his brother decided to buy our Republic for themselves.

The Pink Flamingo has been asked why I am now going to vote for Barack Obama. It’s quite simple. He’s the most conservative of the three men running for POTUS.

“…Koch said he thinks the U.S. military should withdraw from the Middle East and said the government should consider defense spending cuts, as well as possible tax increases to get its fiscal house in order – a stance anathema to many in the Republican Party.

“I think it’s essential to be able to achieve spending reductions and maybe it’s going to require some tax increases,” he said. “We got to come close to balancing the budget, otherwise we’re in a terrible deep problem.”

As for whether military spending cuts should be on the table, Koch said, “I think to balance the budget, probably every federal department has to take cuts in my opinion. We have to spread it around.”
He stressed, though, that “I’m a big fan of the military” and said “I think we’ve got to preserve our military, no question about it. And I’m not exactly an expert on how much military we need, so I have to yield to [Mitt Romney’s opinion].

“I’m more interested in economic issues than how much military we need,” he added. “But I think we should gradually withdraw from the Middle East, you know, from Afghanistan and Iraq so I believe in that. But I’m not an expert in that, so my opinion probably doesn’t count for very much.”…”

NO CORE BELIEFS OTHER THAN BEING MENDACIOUS MITT

Ann Romney thinks her husband is a grown up, women can turn to, the way they do that big strong man in their life, to protect them. I hate doing this, but it’s a Mormon thing, ingrained into Mormon women – you never criticize the man in your life, from father all the way up to the paternalistic head of the church. You are a second class human, who can only get to heaven on the coat-tails of your husband. As a person, you are unworthy of salvation in your own right. When you understand that aspect of her life, you can understand that this woman is not capable of even comprehending how normal American woman thinks. We aren’t out there looking for our knight in shining armor. Unlike the delusional Mrs. America, we know that these men do not exist. The worst of it is that the very modern Mormon woman is not like Ann Romney at all. I know a few. They are tough broads, capable of taking care of themselves, no knight in shining armor needed.

“...Ann Romney said Friday women voters were considering supporting her husband because “it’s time for the grown-up to come.” “I’m hearing from so many women that may not have considered voting for a Republican before, but said, ‘It’s time for the grown-up to come, the man that’s going to take this seriously, that’s going to take the future of our children very, very seriously’,” Romney told Candy Crowley on CNN’s “Starting Point….”

I guess this is one of the reasons we’ve not been hearing from Ben Stein much, lately. He thinks Mitt Romney is a loser.

The Pink Flamingo loves being right. I guess I get it from my mother. Her favorite four words are: I TOLD YOU SO. Well, I told you so. Lying, mendacious Mitt Romney, who ran against Romneycare in the primary, is now promoting it. I told you so. It is exactly what FL’s blond, bimbo AG said. He was going to get into office and promote it.

“…Throughout the Republican primaries, Mitt Romney struggled to distance himself from the health care overhaul he put in place as governor of Massachusetts, which served as a blueprint for President Obama’s health care law Romney has pledged to repeal.

But in the last week, Romney has reversed course and is now touting ‘Romneycare’ in interviews leading up to the Republican National Convention.

“With regards to women’s health care, look, I’m the guy that was able to get health care for all the women and men in my state,” Mitt Romney said in an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” before making sure to attack Obama’s law. “There’s talking about it at the federal level, we actually did something. And we did it without cutting Medicare and without raising taxes.”

“So you’re saying, look at Romneycare?” host Chris Wallace responded.

“Absolutely. I’m very proud of what we did. And the fact that we helped women and men and children in our state,” Romney said….”

Ann Romney once said she did not consider herself wealthy.

All of this points to one very simple thing.  Mitt Romney has no core beliefs.  If he does, they are very hidden.  I suspect, if he has any beliefs, they probably are those he had in 1994.  If so, Mitt Romney is potentially more liberal than Barack Obama.

How on earth did the GOP get itself into this mess?

Well… it’s like this, you get what you pay for.  The David Koch’s influence, his anti- war, anti military philosophy has already reared its ugly head on Thursday.  Mitt Romney became the first GOP nominee since 1952 to not mention and honor our troops in his acceptance speech.

He is sooo not Ronald Reagan.
