Like everyone else in this world I have problems. Like so many people, I’ve let my problems overwhelm me to the point where I have become completely narcissistic in my self-absorbition. All I can think about are my problems. Like Rick Blaine once said, the that “It doesn’t take much to see that the problems of three little people don’t amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. Someday you’ll understand that.”
As I write this, over ten million people are being displaced thanks to the pending landfall of a monster storm. There is a potential for them to lose everything. I have everything, but the kind of a cash flow I want. I love my new house. The cats relocated, easily. Rums is happy. Sure, I’m still trying to unpack, but that’s life. I have beautiful sunsets.
Yet, I complain and make everyone around me so miserable, no one wants to be around me. Yes, I’m a fool. Quite frankly, it is amazing the Lord puts up with me. The very fact that He does also proves His endless patience. Anyone else would have kicked me to the curb.
It is about looking for the good, and about praise. Yes, there are times when we cannot praise. But, there are plenty of other times when we can. Praise brings a sorehead closer to God. When you’re being a sorehead, that’s when you need to get closer to God.
