The GOP lost The Pink Flamingo the day that Jim DeMint and Rick Santorum decided to support Todd Akin, but are refusing to even lift a pinky to support Heather Wilson. Women who are determined to make their way in the world just aren’t all that ladylike. When yet another blond bimbo FOX consultant, who is working for Akin compares him to David Koresh, let’s face it, we’re watching the death throes of the great GOP Elephant. Let’s admit it, we need to get rid of equal pay for women, and that pesky ole’ minimum wage. Do these people even reside in the real world?
The far right needs to shut up already yet about George Soros. What Sheldon Adelson and the Koch Brothers are being allowed to do dwarfs the $24 million Soros spent in 2004. It far dwarfs his spending, but the right won’t stop blabbering about it. It just shows how far over the edge the right had gone.
And then, Adelson’s wife complains about how badly they are being treated. Oh, just wait. The man’s trying to cut a deal with anyone who will listen, to avoid doing a perp walk. I have no sympathy for anyone trying to destroy our country by buying politicians and elections. Let him do the perp walk. He’s supporting Romney by literally trying to bribe him into cutting off investigations into his criminal activities.
“...The top reason Adelson gave for backing Romney and opposing President Barack Obama is “self defense,” as Allen put it, referencing the probe into Las Vegas Sands Corp. “Adelson said a second Obama term would bring government ‘vilification of people that were against him.’ He thinks he would be at the top of that list and contends that he already has been targeted for his political activity,” Allen wrote.
Adelson’s casino empire, the bulk of which is based in Asia, is being investigated for bribery and money laundering. He told Allen that Justice Department officials have been disparaging him in the press. “When I see what’s happening to me and this company, about accusations that are unfounded — that kind of behavior … has to stop,” he told Allen.
In other words, Adelson is spending millions of dollars to curry political favor in the United States, hoping to fend off charges that he spent millions of dollars to curry political favor in Asia….”
The Far Right is really into being tough on crime. WELL… it all depends on what the crime is. If you make a movie that cause riots all over the Muslim world, well, the far right is going to stand up for YOUR freedom of speech. They will declare you a political prisoner. They will LIE about what a two-bit criminal you are. It’s okay. You did what they wanted. Never mind that they all want tougher laws against parole violators. It’s about some people being more entitled to rights than others. You see, in the new GOP, in Mitt Romney’s GOP, racism and bigotry against Muslims is just fine.
For the past few months, someone I once considered a good friend, has been accusing me of turning into another Charles Johnson and going all liberal. Maybe she’s right. Oh, The Pink Flamingo STILL has the VERY SAME VALUES I always have. In that, I have not changed. I still wholeheartedly subscribe to the values the Republican Party once held dear. I am still a Republican and plan to remain that way. I will, though NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER ever call myself a big “C” conservative again. As far as I’m concerned, I’m still “conservative”, but I will never consider myself part of the Conservative Movement. I have too much pride, honor, self-respect, and intellectual honesty to be part of any organization or group of people who have anything to do with what is now jokingly called “Conservative”.
They are no more conservative than I am a liberal. What they are is an embarrassment, a joke, and a humiliation, not only to themselves but the country. Like Charles Johnson wrote about Mark Steyn is 100%.
“...People like Mark Steyn are just dishonest, bigoted opportunists, raking in the cash by pandering to the ignorant, perpetually angry right wing. His comparison of an Obama campaign graphic to a photo of blood smears from Libya is deranged and sick, designed solely to inflame the easily inflamed emotions of their Fox News-indoctrinated base….”
The conservative movement and the GOP have been bought and paid for by the Koch Brothers. If you dare complain, they come after you, much the same way the Mormon Church goes after anyone who dared go after Mitt Romney. It is under the control of FOX News, which is controlled by the increasingly erratic Roger Ailes.
“...When I grew up, the John Birch Society were the crazies — heirs to McCarthy, finding communism in any government program, seeing the Civil Rights Movement as just another arm of the communist party. They were crazy enough to be repudiated by William F. Buckley and Barry Goldwater.
The 2012 Republican Party is barely distinguishable from the John Birch Society. It is funded in large part by the Koch brothers, the heirs of Fred Koch, one of the Birch Society’s founding members. The Kochs may not be members of the Society, but their ideas — extreme laissez-faire capitalism with communism lurking in any regulation, unions, health care and even Civil Rights laws — are virtually the same. (One of the current right’s few attempts to avoid looking like Birchers is morphing communism into “socialism.” No need to explain to the faithful that they’re really the same.)…”
It’s like the lies FOX guests are allowed to spew, while not disclosing that they are bought and paid for by the Romney campaign.
“…The president’s biggest problem is he just doesn’t pay enough attention to national security. It doesn’t interest him. Again, this distinguishes him from the long line of presidents going on a bi-partisan basis, going back to Franklin Roosevelt. Obama does not wake up every morning thinking, ‘What threats does the United States face today and what do I have to do to keep America strong?’ He’s much more interested in restructuring our domestic way of life and we have paid a price for that over these three and a half years….”
Or…
“...Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) took to the House Floor today to declare that President Obama is helping to start a “new Ottoman Empire,” as seen in his decisions to end the war in Iraq, which Gohmert said means losing the war, and to topple Muammar Gaddafi’s dictatorship in Libya. Gohmert warned that we are witnessing the “massive beginning of a new Ottoman Empire that President Obama can take great credit for.” “Wow look what he has helped do in the Middle East, a new Ottoman Empire,” Gohmert said, “thank you President Barack Hussein Obama.” Gohmert added that he didn’t know if Obama is or is not a Christian, adding, “what I do know is that he has helped jump-start a new Ottoman Empire.”…”
There is a point of no return when a billionaire, who is under investigation by the Justice Department, is allowed to get away with donating up to $100 million, to take out those who are investigating him. The GOP is allowing this.
“...Adelson has already given about three times as much as the previous record-holder, hedge-fund manager George Soros, who dropped $24 million to try to defeat President George W. Bush in 2004. And Adelson has already given about one-third of the amount that Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) spent on his entire campaign in 2008…Friends say he is enjoying his role enough that he plans to continue as the go-to sugar daddy for Republican candidates in 2016, as well. “I’ll be always available,” he said merrily. “The expression that I make a joke out of is that I put my money where my mouth is.”…”
There is a point of no return when extremists, with white supremacist connections like Bay Buchanan are allowed to get away with damning normal Republicans.

Raw Story
This is a party that is now bought and paid for by a handful of very right white men. It isn’t because they care about the country, it is because they want more. It’s about me me me, I want I want, I need I need. It is not about the US. But, they use their disinformation system, consisting of numerous blogs, non-profits, and pandering devotes like Michael Medved, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and Glenn Beck, who then spread the lies that these very rich white men have their best interests at heart. To dare complain about them is – well – Marxist, socialist, communist. It is just plain old anti-capitalist.
Take the SCOTUS fight on health care. How much the the Koch Brothers spend on it?
“…Competitive Enterprise Institute: $666,420
Pacific Research Institute: $270,000
Texas Public Policy Foundation: $74,500
Freedom Works: $5 million
Cato Institute: approximately $30 million.
Family Research Council: brief co-authored by attorney Nelson Lund, a professor at George Mason University, which has received $29,604,354.
Galen Institute: “partner organization” of the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation; extent of donations unknown.
Landmark Legal Foundation: $5000…”
Michael Tomasky put it beautifully:
“… No, I mean the near-mathematically perfect joy of watching these smug and contemptible creatures of the right dodge and swerve and make excuses and, most of all, whine. There is no joy in the kingdom of man so great as the joy of seeing bullies and hucksters laid low, and watching people who have arrogantly spent years assuming they were right about the world living to see all those haughty assumptions die before their eyes. Watching them squirm is more fun than watching Romney and Paul Ryan flail away….”
Through the extreme libertarian right, the GOP has lost its heart and soul. Oh, they pretend to be compassionate. They wax poetic on withdrawing food stamps and letting people use community food banks. It is a favorite topic of conservative radio host Michael Medved. Obviously, Medved has never faced the possibility of having to beg for food. I have come close. If I had been required to go to the local food bank, I would have taken care of my parents, then taken my own life over the humiliation. But, then, it’s all about the humiliation, isn’t it?
From Shakesville come comments about families who have been required to use food stamps. No, they aren’t bums, as people like Medved and Limbaugh would have us believe. They are families who are down on their luck. As the wealthiest nation in history, one would think we could do have a little compassion and help these people in a way that preserves their dignity.
These are the self-same individuals who will lecture us all day about the evils of homosexuality, how it brought down Sodom and Gomorrah. They willfully and completely IGNORE Ezekiel 16:49-50. They ignore it because it doesn’t fit their libertarian theology that the poor are to be trod upon, screwed, humiliated, and treated like dirt.
This was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. They were haughty, and did abominable things before me; therefore I removed them when I saw it.
The above is the Revised Standard Version. The New International Version is even worse.
“‘Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.
I dare you to make this about homosexuality. It is NOT. It is about wealthy nations who have become so selfish that they allow people to starve, to go without, to do without. Right now there are people so disparate in this country, that suicide has become one of the major causes of death – out of poverty, desperation, and the fear of having no future.
From Forward Day By Day, September 27:
“…These words, part of the Isaiah scroll from which Jesus read, form the basis of Jesus’ entire ministry on earth. But why does Jesus’ ministry embark from this passage? Quite simply, it’s due to the propensity of references – over 2,000 verses – about economics, poverty, and justice in the Bible. Latin American theologians, rooted in the experiences of injustice in their communities, have known this for years, so much that they speak of God’s preferential option for the poor. Throughout the biblical narrative, God’s heart wrenches when the poor, orphan, widow, leper, or any individual is dehumanized at the hands of fellow humans and the systems they create.
While this makes some Christians uncomfortable, it is difficult to ignore the frequency and clarity of these passages. Jesus’ vision of the kingdom begins with deepest concern for those who have been excluded or exploited in mind, body, and spirit. Jesus proclaims the year of the Lord’s favor-rooted in compassion, love, and solidarity – as a year-round affair. How can we embrace this favor and seek liberation for the entire human family?…”
Maybe my former friend is right, that The Pink Flamingo has gone all Charles Johnson. Frankly, I’d rather be associated with Johnson than the likes of Malkin, Coulter, bigots like Geller, Limbaugh, Medved, Hannity, Krauthammer, most conservative pundits, bloggers, and the likes of Mitt Romney. The more I see of these people the more repulsed I am.
Oh, I’ll never be liberal. I’m still the same, right of center person I always have been. I will never consider myself to be “conservative” because I find the connotations to be disgusting, insulting, and below my standards. They are an insult to this nation. They area an insult to the GOP, and the great men and women who have given time, money, hopes and dreams to see those ideals advance.
Yes, on the night of November 6, when I watch as Barack Obama obliterates Mitt Romney and the GOP loses the House and Senate, I will cheer. The sleazy politicians and their pandering pundits who will be going down in flames are no more Republican than The Pink Flamingo is a New York Yankees’ fan.
What truly disturbs me is the fact that these individuals, and their supporters have reached the point where they are no longer willing to look at reality. Apparently they are no longer capable of distinguishing right from wrong. They have surrendered all in an attempt to unseat a decent man they’ve spent the past four years lying about.
I’m tired of those lies. Once I discovered they were lies, I was disgusted with myself for believing them. The problem is, when you start to expose the lies, and link them to a multi-year attempt for Mitt Romney to pull off what is almost a bought and paid for coup against the GOP, your eyes are opened. Reality is far different from the delusional fantasy occupied by the far right.
Reality is the fact that, when one tries to expose what Mitt Romney is, to simply express one’s Constitutional right to speak up, well, the attacks from the far right are brutal. What I’ve personally experienced is appalling. Now, when I post something on Twitter, I am almost instantly attacked by individuals who are directly connected to the Mormon church. They bully, lie, manipulate, and cheat. Let’s put it this way, I’ve never been treated so badly by the left.
No more. Frankly, I don’t give a damn about the far right. It has degenerated into a group of religious bigots, rude white men who are terrified of women, and racists. I don’t associate with people like this. I’d much rather associate with the Obamas than the Romneys. Oh, you can tell me how perfect the Romneys are, but I’ve never yet found a family who pretended to be “perfect” who did not have serious problems.
Then again, let’s just sit back and watch trouble in paradise. The GOP’s first closeted ticket is having a spat with one another. Gilligan Ryan is pissed with Stench Romney. I guess this means there is no more touchy-feely, no more coordinated wardrobe, and no giggling like a pair of girls with a crush on some football player. They are incapable of introspection.
What I’ve noticed about Barack Obama, now that the scales have been removed from my formerly blighted eyes, is the fact that, in the past four years, he’s grown up, considerably. When a man says that he’ll shoulder the blame for what goes wrong, and admits he’s screwed up, then, that’s the man I’ll vote for. It’s a George W. Bush thing to do.
I don’t associate with racists. I am convinced 90% of the vile spewed against Barack Obama is because of his skin color. I did not believe this, until I saw it in action.
I don’t associate with racists. Romney uses John Bolton as one of his policy advisers. Bolton and Pam Geller are tight. Pam Geller is the modern version of Nathan Bedford Forest. Count me out when it comes to the far right hatred of Muslims. Go ahead and hate them. That’s fine. Just don’t claim to be a Christian.
Evidently this is the GOP of Mitt Romney, reprehensible, intellectually dishonest, libertarian, racist, bigoted, full of bullies and con artists. Most are men. They’re so afraid of women they can’t stand it. The fear and loathing of women is a pathology all itself.
It’s over. You can’t build a political party around aging rich white men and hope that is survives. It can’t.
